Ben Rhydding Pre-school Playgroup has been at the heart of our local community for over 40 years.

The strong relationships we enjoy with local schools, playgroups, children’s activity providers, local organisations and businesses are important to us.

We are extremely proud to be involved in “No Child Should Go Hungry” with our Committee assisting in collecting and delivery essential food parcels to our families in need over this difficult current situation.

A comment by the Reception Teacher, Mrs Alston, from Ben Rhydding Primary School shows the positive impact we have on the children who attend.

The children who come to Ben Rhydding Primary School from Ben Rhydding Playgroup settle extremely well into the Reception class, including those children with additional needs. This is partly due to the transition agreement / partnership between both settings. Members of staff from the playgroup bring the children over once a week from the beginning of the summer term. This occurs for the whole summer term and days and times vary to cater for all children. This gives the children plenty of time to get to know their new learning environment and adults who will be responsible for them in September, while in the care of trusted adults that they know.  The children from Ben Rhydding Playgroup arrive in September (generally) being secure in the prime areas of learning and ready to develop and embed the specific areas. All children are able to form positive relationships with their new adults and other peers in the class. Most children can follow instructions and listen to each other, take turns and share resources. They are able to express their needs clearly and can be independent in looking after themselves. The children have good gross motor skills, with the majority demonstrating fine motor control and co-ordination. Generally, the children are ready for the Reception year and are eager, curious and motivated to take the next steps in their learning.

We already enjoy fruitful working relationships with:
