A note from the staff April 2008
Welcome back to the final term of the academic year. Hope everyone has enjoyed their break. We welcome two new members of staff, Helen Tear will be working with both groups on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and Ruth Ellis will be working with the younger group on Thursday and Friday mornings.
Our theme this half term will be based around ‘Handa’s Surprise’ by Eileen Browne. We will be enjoying the story and talking about living in different places, we will be tasting some of the ‘exotic’ fruits in the story – either fresh, dried or juice, and learning some African songs. If anyone has anything ‘African’ they would like to share with the children then please let us know. Our letters, sounds and numbers for the coming weeks are z as in zebra and ZERO, oa as in goat and ONE, oo as in book and TWO, ee as in knee and THREE, or as in eeyore and FOUR, w as in wind and FIVE and x as in x-ray and SIX. With the younger children look more at the numbers. A list of fruits we may try will be displayed on the window in the entrance, please speak to staff if you need further information.
Soon parents and carers of our Pre School children will find out which schools they will be attending in September, please let us know so we can persuade Reception staff from schools to come and visit us or maybe we can visit them! We will be starting our regular visits to Reception at Ben Rhydding Primary School on Wednesday morning and Thursday afternoon from May. All children will be given the opportunity to visit school for a story, we feel this is beneficial to the children regardless of which school they will attend. Any questions or concerns – speak to a member of staff.
Playgroup is closed on Bank Holiday Monday 5th May and closes for half term on Friday 23rd May re-opening on Monday 9th June.
Apparently not everyone received the rota for this half term via email, please check the copy at playgroup and ask for a copy if needed. Will try requesting receipts with the this mailing.
Parents and carers of children who reached their 3rd birthday before 31st March may choose to pay for their sessions using Nursery Education Funding, see Sandra for more information and to complete the paperwork. Proof of date of birth (passport, birth certificate, medical card) must be seen for children claiming funding at playgroup for the first time. Please note there are seven weeks in this half term, not 6 as stated on lunch fees.
Baxter and Beatrice Bear have been very busy visiting different pre-school children If your child would like them to visit, please send an invitation – drawing, letter. Our bears have lost some of their possessions on their travels – could anyone who has had a bear to stay check and see if they have any of the following: rabbit slippers, leopard dressing gown, toy tiger, toy duck, wooden camera, hungry caterpillar board book, turquoise sleeping bag and a book ‘Ruby’. Thank you.
Anyone like to look after Henry Lisa and Gladys Stanley Bucket during the half term holidays?
Please can you ensure that the door is locked behind you, and the gate bolted on leaving the building. Thank you.
Sandra, Tricia, Peggy, Lana, Tracey, Imy, Chris, Alison, Helen and Ruth.
