8th February 2008
A note from the staff February 2008
This half term has flown by and the next one is even shorter at 4 ½ weeks finishing on Wednesday 19th March. Our theme for next half term will be based around the ‘Harry and the bucketful of dinosaurs’ books by Ian Whybrow. We will be identifying some dinosaurs, making robots and celebrating Easter.
Our letters and sounds for the coming weeks are b for bucket, ai as in pain, j as in jelly, oa as in goat and ie as in pie. With the younger children we will revisit some previous letters and look at numbers too. A copy of our planning for the coming weeks is displayed on the wall in the blue room as well as a ‘daily session plan’. The Pre school group will be baking pizza this half term on Wednesdays and Thursdays with our own pizza expert Mrs Saveska. We will also be making Chocolate Nests with all groups during the last week of term. A list of ingredients will be displayed on the window in the entrance, please speak to staff if you need further information. We hope to design and make robots in week 3, please could you collect any scrap/junk from home that may be useful eg cardboard boxes – assorted sizes, ‘actimel’ type bottles, plastic pots etc. We still need more small plastic pots to plant seeds for the garden.
To celebrate World Book Day on Thursday March 6th children are invited to come to Playgroup in fancy dress or bring a favourite book or toy from a book or story.
During week 4, (beginning Monday 10th March) you are invited to come and stay and make an Easter Hat with your child(ren) during the first half hour of each session, except Friday afternoon, 14th March, as that is when we are holding our Easter Parade. All hats, decorations etc. will be provided – we just need you and a bit of inspiration! If you, or another adult, are unable to come, let us know and we’ll make sure that all the children have a chance to make a hat. If anyone is passing a pound shop selling boxes of fluffy chickens suitable for attaching to hats then please buy us a few boxes, (money refunded) Thank you. Easter parade - we will be singing a selection of seasonal songs wearing the aforementioned hats for your entertainment. The performance will start at 2.30pm, everyone is welcome to attend.
Baxter and Beatrice Bear have been very busy visiting different homes, the pre-school children (and staff) enjoy hearing about their adventures when they return. If your child would like them to visit, please send an invitation – drawing, letter, anything! However, our bears have lost some of their possessions during their travels – please could anyone who has had a bear to stay check and see if they have any of the following: yellow wellies, grey t-shirt with bf on it, stripey glove, wooden camera, hungry caterpillar board book, purple sleeping bag and a denim pinafore. Thank you.
Does anyone shop at Morrisons on a regular basis? Would anyone like to look after Henry Lisa and Gladys Stanley Bucket during the Easter holidays? – please speak to Sandra
Please can you ensure that the door is locked behind you, and the gate bolted on leaving the building. Thank you.
Sandra, Tricia, Peggy, Lana, Tracey, Imy, Chris & Alison
