Stay & Play sessions - aka "Duties"

Parental/carer involvement is actively encouraged and parents/carers are welcome to visit playgroup at any time during opening hours.

It is accepted that Parents/carers undertake a number of stay & play sessions each term. (We feel pregnant mums are able to fulfil a share of stay & play sessions up to 29 weeks if they feel well enough to do so and will then be exempt until 3 months after giving birth.) It is important that parents commit to undertaking stay & play sessions to ensure the smooth running of Playgroup. If both parents/carers work then arrangements could be made with a relative or childminder to undertake them. In the event that a parent/carer cannot help at any sessions then it is accepted that a donation to funds is made.

Parents/carers are also welcome and encouraged to:

  1. Share with the children any skills or hidden talents! E.g. playing an instrument, sewing, gardening, juggling, speaking or signing another language etc.
  2. Assist with fundraising
  3. Take part in the management of the playgroup
  4. Attend the AGM and committee meetings
  5. Attend training courses organised by playgroup and the Pre-school Learning Alliance

If you've lost your stay & play rota, there is a copy at playgroup or email mail@brplaygroup.com for a copy.

Behaviour Management

If a child behaves in an unacceptable way staff will use positive methods to try and attain reasonable levels of behaviour through:

  • Praise and encouragement of good behaviour.
  • Anticipation and removal of potential problems.
  • Redirection.

If unacceptable behaviour from a child is a continuing problem, Playgroup staff will work together with the child’s parents/carers to find a solution that is acceptable to both parties. ( see policies for our Behaviour Management Policy )
