Baxter and Beatrice Bear

We have a two special helpers at Playgroup for our Pre- school group!

Their names are Baxter and Beatrice Bear. Baxter was first introduced to the children in November 2006 and  proved to be very popular and has had some great adventures. Beatrice is Baxter's younger sister and she will soon be old enough to go to children's homes too.

Baxter Bear loves to visit the children at home and stay for a few days, he brings a suitcase full of clothes and a few of his favourite things! He also brings his special book, he would like the children to draw a picture and write a bit about what they have done with Baxter, or make up a story. They may need help from a grown up or big brother or sister to record the story!

We enjoy hearing Baxter's experiences and sharing them with the group when he returns to Playgroup. We look forward to Beatrice's adventures too!

We hope that having Baxter or Beatrice at home will encourage the children to share their experiences at home with other children and adults at playgroup, develop their story telling and creative talents and that they will be a positive link between home and Playgroup.

We will also use them at playgroup to convey information such as road safety, stranger danger or discussing emotions and feelings.

Our bears visit by invitation only, if you or your child would like either bear to visit, then perhaps you could help to make an invitation at home and bring it to Playgroup or you can email the bears at b.bear@brplaygroup.com – please make a note of any inconvenient or special dates and we will try to accommodate them.

For further information, speak to a member of staff or email 'the bears' as above.
