About us Mission Statement:
Ben Rhydding Pre-School Playgroup was first established in 1970 and is affiliated to the Pre-School Learning Alliance (P.L.A.) and is registered with Bradford Early Years Childcare and Play. It is a happy and successful Playgroup run enthusiastically by an expert staff. Ben Rhydding Pre-School Playgroup successfully completed the Pre-School Learning Alliance Accreditation Scheme in 2006, and Inclusion Quality Standard in 2008, this formally recognises the high standards achieved by the Playgroup. We are proud to be one of the first in the area to achieve this award. Peggy Witty is one of our joint leaders at the Pre-School, and has worked here for over 6 years. She has completed her Early Years Foundation Degree Level 5 and is now working towards a Degree in Early Childhood Studies. Peggy works as Play Leader in the setting. Tricia Darlow is our other joint leader, having worked at the Pre-School for over 10 years. She has a Diploma in Pre-School practice and is taking on a more managerial/administrative role. Helen, Imy and Sandy are all teacher trained, and Bela is now working towards an Early Years qualification, Level 3, Alison has nursing qualifications and is teaching assistant trained, as well as having NVQ Level 3 in Early Years. Lana and Hannah are both hoping to further their Level 2 qualifications and recently returned from maternity leave we have Katie, also trained at NVQ Level 2 in Early Years. Finally there's Chris, our faithful domestic practitioner has worked here for over 16 years! We are also proud that two of our staff are from a different cultural background, giving us a wealth of extra knowledge and experience. Lana was born and raised in Macedonia, and Katie is from Hungary. Our new pre-school is leased to us by the Ben Rhydding Primary School and is maintained by caretakers Nigel Leafe and Dave Steele, who do a great job helping to keep everything working and looking good. We couldn't run without our committed committee. Each year a set of parents volunteer, are nominated and form our essential 'management team'. They do a lot of work (and gain a lot of experience) making decisions, fundraising, organising things behind the scenes and much more, with the help of the Leaders and the Pre-School Learning Alliance. We have great links with the community and play a big part in the Ben Rhydding Community Fete. Parents and carers often comment on what a friendly, helpful pre-school we are and how they are made to feel welcome and listened to. We receive some lovely thank you cards at the end of the School year with lovely comments, that make us all feel very proud.
